David has been our pastor since December 2007. He came to us from Texas with his wife Laura, their son Sam and daughters Sarah and Sophia.
David received his Masters of Divinity from Brite Divinity School (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas in December 2005. Before coming to be pastor in Muscatine, David served as Pastoral Intern at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth. David was ordained by Grace Presbytery on November 17, 2007.
Before beginning divinity school in 2002, David had a business career. He was a restaurant manager with Chili's for 3 1/2 years and then transferred to the Brinker International home office to be an I.T. Helpdesk Manager.
David was raised Baptist in Texas, attending churches such as Wilshire Baptist Church as a child. David became Presbyterian in 2004 and is a strong advocate for the PC(USA), even with all its faults.
He enjoys music, movies and reading as well as working in the yard and spending time with his family. His passions for ministry include leading worship, teaching, pastoral care and involvement in local missions.
David currently serves on the Administrative Unit of the Presbytery of East Iowa. He is the Board President of MCSA (local shelter with health and vocational support) and serves on the Muscatine County CARES (child abuse response and education). He also writes a column in Wednesday's "Friends and Family" section of the Muscatine Journal.
Laura is a Registered Nurse and is employed by Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
