*Caveats: Sermons, defined as "a public proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ," are designed for a particular moment and are meant to be heard and experienced in the context of worship, along with other people. Sermons are just one part of a worship service, and sometimes not even the best part of the service. Songs, prayers and other liturgy all work together for the total effect of (usually) one theme for the day, and may be more memorable or transformative than the sermon itself. Sometimes "the moment" is what is most important, and a sermon would never sound the same again in any other place or time. Sometimes sermons begin with the children's moment. Many times videos or other visual aids are projected on screen during the sermon, so a simple skimming through a manuscript misses a great deal. Sometimes words fall flat, yet the Spirit moves in other ways.
Given all these caveats, we desire to share these words with you with the prayer that the God's good news of Jesus will, through the power of the Holy Spirit, warm your heart, transform your mind, challenge you to grow, and inspire you to practice your faith in the world with love and compassion.
