Worship is central to our life together here at FPC Muscatine. In worship we gather as community to sing, pray, hear Scripture read and proclaimed and to celebrate the Sacraments of the Lord's Supper and Baptism. Worship reminds us that we are God's people and Christ's presence is with us.
Children are important part of our worship. Each Sunday has a Time with Children. The Children's Choir sings on a regular basis. Children also participate by helping to usher and greet. In Oct. 2008 we observed Children's Sabbath for the first time and the children read scripture and led us in prayer. Youth lead worship on Youth Sunday each Spring and have a Youth and Children's Christmas Program each December.
We sing a variety of hymns and songs. We use the Presbyterian Hymnal, Renew: Songs and Hymns for Blended Worship, and other sources for songs that are meaningful and add to the theme for the day.
Our sanctuary was built in 1856 and is listed on the register of National Historic Places. An extensive remodel and renovation was completed at the beginning of 2005, with additional chancel space, new sound, and a retractable video screen. The sanctuary can seat up to 250 people and also has wonderful acoustics. Therefore, our sanctuary is open for concerts by local community groups, including the Muscatine Symphony and the Muscatine Community College Choir.
We invite you to join us in worship every Lord's Day at 10:15am.
